Rourkela Airport Upgrade & Steel Plant Expansion Announced by Odisha CM Majhi
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has announced a major push for infrastructure and industrial growth in Rourkela, with plans to upgrade the Rourkela Airport and expand the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).
A dedicated task force led by Development Commissioner Deo Ranjan Singh has been formed to oversee the projects.
Officials from the Centre have already inspected the steel plant, followed by review meetings in Bhubaneswar, signalling strong coordination between the State and Central Governments.
The Rourkela Airport is set to be upgraded to Category-C, enhancing air connectivity for industries, business travellers, and the public.
Meanwhile, the RSP will undergo expansion and modernisation, aimed at boosting industrial output and ensuring sustainable growth.
These initiatives are expected to strengthen connectivity, accelerate industrial development, and drive economic progress across Rourkela and western Odisha.
