Rakul Preet Singh Opens Up on Playing Surpanakha in Ramayan

Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh has revealed why she agreed to portray Surpanakha in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming magnum opus Ramayan.

Responding to a heartfelt fan letter, Rakul explained that she was drawn to the character’s complexity and depth, which often gets overshadowed by a single moment in history.

She emphasised that Surpanakha is remembered only for her encounter with Lord Ram and Sita, but her story holds far more nuance.

Rakul said she wanted to challenge perceptions and bring a layered portrayal to the screen.

The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Yash as Ravana.

With such a stellar cast, the project has already generated massive buzz, and Rakul hopes audiences will approach her character with an open mind when the film releases.
