Accused Escapes Women’s Police Station, Two Cops Suspended

Bhubaneswar: A dramatic escape from the Women’s Police Station has led to disciplinary action against two police personnel.

Rudra Prasad Sutar, accused in a love and cheating case from Bhadrak district, fled custody on Friday morning.

Reports state that while the duty officer went to the bathroom and the sentry was serving breakfast, Rudra pushed the sentry and ran out of the station.

Following the incident, the Women’s Police Station lodged a complaint at Capital Police Station, and a case was registered.

The Bhubaneswar DCP suspended both the sentry and the duty officer for negligence, issuing show‑cause notices to the staff.

Preliminary investigation confirmed dereliction of duty, resulting in their suspension.

This incident has raised questions about security lapses in police stations and accountability within the force.
