Pralhad Joshi Takes Charge of Education Ministry After Dharmendra Pradhan’s Exit

In a significant reshuffle, President Droupadi Murmu, acting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advice, accepted the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

His departure follows mounting criticism over alleged exam irregularities and paper leaks, particularly in NEET‑UG, which triggered nationwide student protests.

The protests, spearheaded by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), demanded accountability, reforms, and compensation for families of students who died by suicide linked to exam controversies.

With Pradhan’s resignation, the CJP announced the withdrawal of its agitation.

Senior BJP leader and five‑time Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi has now been entrusted with the Education Ministry portfolio.

Joshi, who already oversees Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and New & Renewable Energy, is expected to bring stability and continuity while the government considers a permanent successor.

This transition marks a crucial moment for India’s education sector, with expectations of swift reforms to restore trust in competitive examinations and safeguard student interests.
