Pradeep Kumar Jena Resigns as OERC Chairperson in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 25: Shri Pradeep Kumar Jena, IAS (Retd.), has stepped down as Chairperson of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC), citing personal grounds.

His resignation, submitted earlier this week, was formally accepted by the Governor of Odisha on Monday afternoon.

The Energy Department confirmed the development through an official order signed by Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev.

Jena’s exit marks a significant administrative change in Odisha’s power sector, where he played a crucial role in overseeing electricity regulation, tariff management, and policy implementation.

Officials stated that the process to appoint a new Chairperson will begin shortly to ensure continuity in regulatory functions.

Jena, a retired IAS officer, had a long career in public administration before assuming the OERC role.

His departure comes at a time when Odisha’s energy sector is navigating policy transitions and consumer demands for reliable, affordable electricity.
