One Dead, Five Injured in Gas Cylinder Explosion at Ranpur, Nayagarh
Nayagarh, April 13: A tragic incident struck the Ranpur NAC area of Nayagarh district on Sunday when a gas cylinder explosion claimed the life of 59‑year‑old Geetarani Mohanty and left five of her family members critically injured.
The blast occurred suddenly at their residence, causing severe burn injuries.
Locals rushed to the spot and helped shift the victims to nearby facilities before they were referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.
Local MLA and Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy visited the hospital, assured government support, and enquired about the condition of the injured.
Authorities have begun investigating the exact cause of the explosion.
This incident has sparked concern about domestic safety measures and the need for stricter checks on household LPG cylinders in the region.
