Former Nuapada Labour Officer Sentenced to 3 Years in Bribery Case
Bhawanipatna, April 16: The Special Vigilance Judge, Bhawanipatna has convicted Sarat Kumar Panigrahi, former District Labour Officer (DLO) of Nuapada, sentencing him to three years imprisonment and a fine of ₹80,000.
Panigrahi was found guilty of demanding and accepting a ₹40,000 bribe from a trainer for registering 200 labourers.
The case was registered under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance announced that it will move to stop Panigrahi’s pension benefits, reinforcing its stance against corruption in government departments.
