Twelve Arrested in Nabarangpur Murder Case Linked to Love Affair Dispute

Nabarangpur, April 13: Police have arrested twelve individuals, including a minor girl, in connection with the murder of 19‑year‑old Gourang Majhi from Udit Narayanpur village under Bhawanipatna Sadar police limits.

Gourang went missing on April 4 after visiting Panimunda village, and his body was discovered on April 7 inside an abandoned well.

According to police, the crime was allegedly motivated by a dispute over Gourang’s relationship with the minor girl.

His father accused the girl’s family of orchestrating the murder and dumping the body in the well.

Among those arrested were the girl’s two brothers and her brother‑in‑law, Ranjan Majhi.

All accused have been produced in court after completion of legal formalities. Investigators confirmed that the murder was premeditated and linked directly to the relationship dispute.

The case has shocked the local community and highlighted concerns over rising crimes tied to personal disputes in rural Odisha.
