Odisha Govt Issues Fresh Order to Correct 1956-57 Land Records
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has issued a fresh directive to correct specific land records dating back to the 1956-57 settlement period, aiming to resolve long-standing discrepancies and improve the accuracy of revenue records across the state.
The Revenue and Disaster Management Department issued the notification on October 30, 2026, directing concerned authorities and courts to undertake the necessary corrections.
According to the notification, entries listed under Schedule-A, including certain thana, bar-barshi and relocation-related details along with corresponding revenue numbers, are to be corrected in the relevant revenue records through designated courts.
The order also states that cases included in Schedule-B may be processed after obtaining approval from the competent authorities.
The move is expected to address long-pending issues in historical land records that often create complications in mutation proceedings, ownership verification and related administrative processes.
By aligning historical settlement information with current revenue records, the government seeks to enhance transparency and reduce disputes arising from outdated entries.
Officials have been instructed to act on the lists provided in the schedules while ensuring due legal procedure is followed.
The initiative forms part of the state’s broader efforts to modernise land administration and strengthen governance through cleaner and more accurate revenue records.
The notification has been issued under the Revenue and Disaster Management Department’s miscellaneous registration and land-related file series and carries official departmental authentication.
