Odisha’s Voter Roll Drive Hits 99% Distribution Milestone
Bhubaneswar, June 16: Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti chaired a high‑level review meeting at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office to assess the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Odisha.
Odisha currently has 3.33 crore registered voters, with 94.6% mapped before the SIR began. As of June 16, 99.2% of enumeration forms have been distributed, and 46.44% digitised.
Sundargarh district leads in both distribution and digitisation.
Bharti held one‑on‑one discussions with District Collectors and Election Officers from nine districts to identify challenges and solutions.
To ensure smooth execution, the Election Commission has banned transfers of officers engaged in SIR, appointed 275 additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, and directed the organisation of hearing camps, training sessions, and help desks.
A total of 31 District Election Officers, 147 Electoral Registration Officers, and 994 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers are engaged in the process.
While the official deadline for form distribution and submission is June 28, nine districts have been instructed to finish by June 23–24 to maintain momentum.
Bharti emphasised inclusivity, stressing that no eligible voter should be left out of the electoral rolls.
