Odisha to Shine Bright: One Crore Lamps for Subhadra Yojana Anniversary
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has called upon households across the state to light lamps on September 17 between 6–7 PM to mark the second anniversary of the Subhadra Yojana, the flagship women‑empowerment scheme.
Since its launch, the program has transferred ₹25,800 crore directly to 1.03 crore women beneficiaries in five instalments.
Independent studies by IIM Sambalpur, SBI, and NITI Aayog highlight that nearly 26% of women recipients have achieved financial self‑reliance through entrepreneurship.
The anniversary will be celebrated with rangoli competitions and empowerment programs at ICDS project sites, Anganwadi centres, and CDPO offices.
The government also reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating malnutrition under Poshan Abhiyan, envisioning a “Nourished and Developed Odisha.”
The symbolic lamp‑lighting is positioned as a tribute to women’s dignity, self‑reliance, and spirit, reinforcing the scheme’s transformative impact on households across Odisha.
