Similipal National Park Reopens for Tourists with Mandatory Online Booking
Baripada, Nov. 1: Odisha’s renowned Similipal National Park has reopened for tourists, marking the beginning of the new ecotourism season after a delayed start caused by post-monsoon road repairs and safety inspections.
The Forest Department has introduced a mandatory online booking system for all visitors, making advance registration essential before entering the protected reserve.
Offline permits have been discontinued, and tourists are required to secure entry passes through the official booking portal before planning their visit.
The reopening was postponed to allow authorities to complete repairs on roads damaged during the monsoon season and to ensure visitor safety inside the national park.
According to the revised entry guidelines, tourists can access the park through the Kalikaprasad gate near Jashipur between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m., while visitors entering through the Pithabata gate near Baripada must do so between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Day visitors are required to leave the park by 6 p.m.
The park’s ecotourism facilities, including accommodation and safari services at Kumari, Gudgudia, Barehipani, Jamuani and Ramtirtha/Talabandh, are also open for bookings.
Visitors are encouraged to make reservations in advance due to the expected tourist rush during the winter season.
Known for its rich biodiversity, scenic waterfalls and tiger habitat, Similipal National Park remains one of Odisha’s most popular wildlife destinations.
Officials hope the reopening will boost eco-tourism and local livelihoods while ensuring a safe and regulated visitor experience.
