The depression was located about 830 km east-southeast of Chennai, 880 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam, and 950 km east-southeast of Ongole.
The IMD has forecast that the system is likely to intensify into a deep depression over the Southwest and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal, before strengthening into a cyclonic storm by the night of November 1.
Further intensification into a severe cyclonic storm is expected by November 2.
According to the forecast, the storm is likely to approach the west-central Bay of Bengal near the south Andhra Pradesh coast in the early hours of November 3.
It is expected to make landfall between Nellore and Narsapur as a severe cyclonic storm with wind speeds ranging from 100 to 110 kmph and gusts reaching up to 120 kmph.
Authorities are closely monitoring the system’s movement and intensity, while coastal regions are advised to remain alert as the cyclone progresses over the Bay of Bengal.
