Odisha Police SI Recruitment Scam: CBI Summons Senior IPS Officer as Probe Widens

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its probe into the Odisha Police Sub‑Inspector (SI) recruitment scam, summoning a senior IPS officer for questioning.

The officer’s name surfaced during the interrogation of prime accused Shankar Prusty, alleged mastermind and owner of Panchsoft Technologies, along with associates Suresh Nayak and Sagar Goud.

The recruitment exam for 933 SI posts, scheduled in October 2025, was cancelled after allegations of widespread malpractice.

Investigators revealed that middlemen and brokers promised leaked question papers for sums as high as Rs 25 lakh per candidate.

The CBI has already arrested Bihar‑based middlemen Amit Bharati and Nitish Kumar, exposing the interstate spread of the racket across Bihar, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh. Evidence points to possible insider involvement within the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB), including irregularities in the tender process.

The scam first came to light in September 2025 when buses carrying candidates allegedly en route to access leaked papers were intercepted.

Since then, over a dozen arrests have been made, including exam centre officials and a police constable.

As the investigation deepens, thousands of genuine aspirants await justice, with growing demands for a transparent and corruption‑free recruitment system.
