Odisha Steps Up Affordable Housing Efforts at NITI Aayog Workshop
Odisha has reaffirmed its commitment to “Housing for All” by actively participating in NITI Aayog’s national workshop on affordable housing held in New Delhi on December 23, 2025.
Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, and Subhananda Mohapatra, Mission Director of the Odisha Urban Housing Mission (OUHM), represented the state at the high‑level event.
The workshop marked the launch of NITI Aayog’s pivotal report, “Comprehensive Framework to Promote and Enable Affordable Housing.”
The framework outlines practical measures to overcome land and financing challenges, including land aggregation models, establishment of land banks, transparent inventory systems, and innovative financing tools such as State‑level Shelter Funds.
Highlighting Odisha’s proactive stance, Usha Padhee emphasised that affordable housing is central to building inclusive, resilient, and future‑ready cities.
She noted that the state will translate the framework’s recommendations into actionable strategies, strengthening Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) projects to ensure urban housing remains accessible and affordable for all.
Following the deliberations, Odisha’s delegation is set to develop tailored action plans based on workshop insights, further bolstering the state’s affordable housing initiatives and reinforcing its role in shaping India’s urban future.
