Odisha Govt Recognises AEDP Degrees as Equivalent to UG Courses
The Odisha Higher Education Department has directed all universities and autonomous colleges to recognise Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programmes (AEDPs) as equivalent to conventional undergraduate degrees.
This decision aligns with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines issued in March 2025, which mandate recognition of AEDPs for higher education and employment opportunities.
AEDPs are integrated into courses such as BA, BCom, and BSc, combining academic learning with practical apprenticeship training to enhance employability.
The directive ensures that AEDP graduates will face no hurdles in pursuing Master’s and PhD programmes, thereby strengthening academic pathways.
Additionally, institutions must allow AEDP students to study subjects relevant to competitive examinations through Multidisciplinary Courses (MDCs) and Skill Enhancement Courses (SECs).
By adopting this policy, Odisha aims to boost career prospects for students while aligning higher education with national standards.
