230 Students Rescued from Flood‑Hit Kendrapada School
Kendrapada, Odisha: In a dramatic rescue operation, the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) evacuated 230 students from the Government Residential School in Kulsahi, Pattamundai block, Kendrapada district.
The children, including 140 boys and 90 girls, had been stranded for four days after floodwaters from a nearby river inundated the hostel’s ground floor.
Despite strong currents delaying initial efforts, worsening conditions prompted urgent action. ODRAF teams deployed boats to safely transport the students to higher ground.
A medical team had examined the children earlier, confirming they were in good health before evacuation.
The incident underscores the vulnerability of Kendrapada to seasonal flooding and highlights the swift response of district authorities in safeguarding young lives.
