Odisha Initiates Land Identification for Five New Medical Colleges
Bhubaneswar, April 19: The Odisha government has begun groundwork to set up five new medical colleges across the state, focusing on strengthening healthcare education infrastructure.
The Works Department has directed Superintending Engineers to identify suitable land in coordination with district collectors.
The proposed institutions include Ayurvedic colleges in Gajapati, Malkangiri, and Rayagada, and Homeopathic colleges in Nayagarh and Nuapada.
Officials are preparing detailed cost estimations and land reports, which will be submitted for administrative approval.
This initiative aims to expand access to Ayurvedic and homeopathic systems of medicine, reduce regional disparities, and create more opportunities for medical students.
The move reflects Odisha’s broader strategy to enhance its healthcare ecosystem and invest in long‑term medical education growth.
