Puri Fast Track Court Delivers Three Key Verdicts in Sexual Assault and Theft Cases

Puri, April 19: The Fast Track Special Court in Puri has delivered three significant verdicts, underscoring its role in expediting justice in sensitive cases.

In the first case from Gadishagoda (2016), accused Ajay alias Ranjan Kumar Bhoi was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹5,00,000 for the rape of a 13‑year‑old minor girl.

He had absconded after a 2024 verdict but was recently arrested while attempting to flee the state.

In another case from Brahmagiri, accused Pradeep Majhi was convicted for sexually assaulting a differently‑abled young woman, receiving 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹2,000.

In a separate case (No. 37/2024), he was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment and fined ₹10,000 for sexual harassment.

The third case from Kakatpur (Case No. 5) involved theft, where accused Gagan Bihari Kakral Singh was sentenced to 2 years and 3 months rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹2,000.

These verdicts highlight the efficiency of fast track courts in Odisha, ensuring swift justice in cases involving minors, women, and vulnerable individuals.
