Odisha Govt Forms Anganwadi Committees to Boost Poshan 2.0
The Odisha government has announced the formation of Anganwadi Management Committees (AMCs) across all Anganwadi Centres under the Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 scheme.
According to a directive issued by the Department of Women & Child Development on July 13, the initiative aims to strengthen community participation, ownership, accountability, transparency, and monitoring of Anganwadi services at the grassroots level.
The Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) will oversee the constitution of these committees in line with central guidelines.
Odisha has also introduced additional state‑specific members to ensure inclusivity:
- One adolescent girl from the local community pursuing Higher Secondary (+2) or college education.
- One beneficiary of the Subhadra Scheme who is not a Self Help Group member.
Each AMC will be chaired by the Supervisor associated with the Anganwadi Centre, ensuring direct oversight and leadership.
This move is expected to make Anganwadi Centres more community‑driven, accountable, and aligned with the objectives of Poshan 2.0, while reflecting Odisha’s emphasis on inclusivity and grassroots empowerment.
