Bay of Bengal Low-Pressure System Likely to Intensify into Depression Today, Cyclonic Storm by Oct 26
Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low-pressure area over the Eastcentral and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a depression today, according to meteorological forecasts.
The weather system, currently centred over the Eastcentral Bay of Bengal, is moving west-northwestward and is expected to strengthen gradually over the next few days.
Forecasts indicate that the system may develop into a deep depression by October 25 before further intensifying into a cyclonic storm over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal by the morning of October 26.
Meteorologists have projected that the system will continue its west-northwestward movement across the Bay of Bengal and approach the Andhra Pradesh coast around October 28 while gaining strength.
The development of the weather system is being closely monitored as it has the potential to influence weather conditions along parts of India’s eastern coastline in the coming days.
Authorities and coastal residents are advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins for the latest information.
The Bay of Bengal is known for generating powerful weather systems during the post-monsoon season, making continuous monitoring crucial for preparedness and disaster management efforts.
While the current forecast outlines a likely intensification path, weather experts emphasise that changes in track and intensity remain possible as the system evolves over open waters.
