President Murmu’s Rairangpur Visit Deferred by a Week Amid Cyclone Threat
Bhubaneswar: The proposed visit of Droupadi Murmu to her native region of Rairangpur in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district has been postponed by a week in view of the looming cyclonic threat over the Bay of Bengal.
The President was originally scheduled to undertake a two-day visit to Rairangpur on October 28 and 29.
However, authorities have decided to defer the programme due to adverse weather conditions and the possibility of a cyclonic storm affecting Odisha.
Officials clarified that the visit has not been cancelled but merely rescheduled as a precautionary measure.
According to the Mayurbhanj district administration, the President is now expected to visit the district on November 4 and 5.
During her visit, Droupadi Murmu is expected to travel to Rairangpur and participate in a series of programmes in the region.
Her itinerary also includes offering prayers at the Maa Kichakeswari Temple in Bahalda and visiting Gorumahisani, places that hold significance in her home district.
The postponement comes at a time when weather agencies are closely monitoring a developing system over the Bay of Bengal, prompting authorities to review public events and travel schedules as a precaution.
The revised schedule is expected to allow the President’s engagements in Mayurbhanj to proceed smoothly once weather conditions improve.
