Odisha Govt Begins Mayoral Election Process for Sambalpur & Puri
The Odisha government has formally initiated the mayoral election process for Sambalpur and Puri Municipal Corporations.
The Housing and Urban Development Department has issued a draft notification under the Odisha Municipal Corporation Act, 2003, proposing reservations for the mayoral posts.
According to the notification, the Sambalpur Mayor post will remain unreserved, while the Puri Mayor post has been earmarked for the Scheduled Caste (Woman) category.
Citizens have been invited to submit objections or suggestions in writing to the Director of Municipal Administration within 15 days of publication.
The government will review all feedback before finalising the reservation, marking a crucial step toward conducting the mayoral elections in these two key urban bodies.
