Odisha Shuts Schools & Colleges in 10 Districts Amid Rain Alert

Authorities in Odisha have ordered the closure of schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centres across ten districts following a heavy rainfall warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The affected districts include Bhadrak, Jajpur, Baragada, Kendujhar, Balangir, Sambalpur, Sundaragada, Debagada, Sonepur, and Nuapada.

The directive covers government, aided, and private institutions, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, and Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas.

Officials emphasised that the move is precautionary, aimed at safeguarding children and avoiding inconvenience during the ongoing downpour.

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of the state in the next 24 hours.

District administrations have urged parents and students to remain indoors and follow official advisories.
