Low Pressure Over Bay of Bengal Likely to Intensify Into Depression Within 12 Hours

Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low-pressure area has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea and is expected to intensify into a depression within the next 12 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather system intensified from a low-pressure area observed earlier and is currently accompanied by a cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.

According to IMD, the system is moving west-northwestward and is likely to strengthen further in the coming hours.

After developing into a depression, it is expected to continue intensifying while moving towards the west-central Bay of Bengal.

Meteorologists have indicated that the system may approach the Andhra Pradesh coast by the evening of November 2 if its projected movement remains unchanged.

Authorities are closely monitoring the development of the weather system.

The IMD has advised residents of coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining regions to stay updated with official weather bulletins and follow advisories issued by local authorities.

The Bay of Bengal remains one of the most active regions for cyclone formation during this period, and any further intensification of the system could influence weather conditions along the eastern coast of India.

The IMD has assured that continuous monitoring of the system is underway and additional updates will be issued as the situation evolves.
