Odisha Fuel Crisis: IOCL Assures Adequate Supply, Urges Citizens to Avoid Panic Buying
Bhubaneswar: Amid widespread concerns over fuel availability in Odisha, the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has clarified that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel across the state.
The corporation confirmed that supply points connected to Paradip Refinery have reserves sufficient for 10–12 days, with district‑level stock maintained to ensure uninterrupted distribution.
Officials noted that panic buying has led to a temporary surge in demand, with sales increasing by nearly 30 per cent in recent days.
Long queues at several petrol pumps created an impression of scarcity, though IOCL emphasised that fresh stock is being replenished regularly.
Odisha currently has over 2,800 fuel outlets operated by IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, Reliance, and Nayara.
Most pumps are functioning normally, with occasional dry spells attributed to local operational issues rather than supply shortages.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to avoid hoarding fuel, warning that such behaviour creates artificial shortages and strains the distribution system.
They reiterated that the state’s fuel supply chain remains stable and under control.
