Odisha Works Department Pushes for Expeditious Completion of RIDF Projects

Bhubaneswar: The Works Department has reviewed the progress of 192 projects sanctioned under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) with NABARD support.

Out of these, 124 have been completed, while 68—including 44 bridges and 24 roads—remain under construction.

Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh chaired the review meeting, directing officials to resolve bottlenecks such as utility shifting, forest clearance, and land acquisition.

He emphasised strict adherence to timelines and quality standards, with regular monitoring mechanisms to track progress.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan have underscored the importance of fast‑tracking infrastructure projects to boost connectivity and rural development.

Senior engineers and secretaries, including Er. Sameer Hota, Ratikant Mohapatra, Pradeep Kumar Sahu, Sundar Madhab Padhi, Pravash Kumar Majhi, and Tapan Kumar Behera attended the meeting.

The department’s directive signals a strong push to ensure that pending bridges and roads are completed swiftly, strengthening Odisha’s rural infrastructure network.
