Odisha Launches 13‑Day Urban Citizen Outreach Campaign

Bhubaneswar, June 8: Odisha’s Housing & Urban Development Department is set to launch a 13‑day Urban Citizen Outreach and Civic Participation Campaign across all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) from June 9 to 21.

The initiative aims to strengthen citizen‑centric urban governance, raise awareness about civic services, and foster participatory development.

Housing & Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra emphasised that active citizen participation is vital for building modern, resilient, and people‑centric cities.

Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Usha Padhee noted that the campaign will serve as a platform for meaningful interaction between citizens and institutions, enabling feedback and collaboration.

The campaign will feature awareness rallies, ward‑level meetings, public consultations, Swachhata drives, and community engagement activities.

Key focus areas include sanitation, waste management, water conservation, environmental sustainability, and civic responsibility.

Service delivery camps and help desks will be set up to assist citizens with property tax, water connections, trade licences, building plan approvals, housing schemes, and grievance redressal.

Self Help Groups, Resident Welfare Associations, youth and market associations, and community institutions will actively participate.

Officials said the campaign’s outcome will be measured by citizen feedback, strengthened community participation, and improved responsiveness of ULBs, advancing Odisha’s vision of transparent, inclusive, and participatory urban governance.
