Odisha Governor Emphasizes Spiritual Heritage at Mahendragiri Mela, Prays for World Peace at Jirang Monastery

Gajapati: Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati joined the grand Mahendragiri Mela in Gajapati district, participating in the Maha Yajna and offering prayers at the historic Kunti Temple.

He described Mahendragiri as “Odisha’s permanent spiritual heritage,” highlighting its role in fostering devotion, unity, and cultural pride.

Later, the Governor visited the Jirang Buddhist Monastery, where he offered prayers before Lord Buddha for global peace and prosperity.

He interacted with monks and local residents, listening to their concerns and recalling his earlier efforts to bring sacred Buddha relics from Vietnam to India.

Dr Kambhampati praised the monks for their compassion and dedication to preserving Buddha’s teachings, noting their contribution to promoting peace and cultural understanding for future generations.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Commerce, Transport, Steel & Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena also attended the Mahendragiri Mela, underscoring the event’s significance for Odisha’s spiritual and cultural landscape.
