Low Pressure Over Bay of Bengal May Intensify Into Cyclonic Storm By Oct 26, Says IMD
Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has formed over the east-central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal and is likely to intensify into a depression by October 24, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
According to the IMD, the weather system, which originated from a cyclonic circulation over the region, is expected to move west-northwestwards during the next two days.
Meteorologists have indicated that the system may strengthen further while approaching north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha coast.
The weather agency has forecast that the low-pressure area could intensify into a cyclonic storm by October 26 if favourable atmospheric and oceanic conditions persist.
The development has drawn attention across coastal districts of Odisha, where authorities are expected to closely monitor the situation and prepare for any adverse weather conditions that may arise from further intensification of the system.
The IMD has stated that it is continuously tracking the movement and intensity of the weather system and will issue updated forecasts and advisories as required.
Residents, especially those in coastal areas, have been advised to follow official weather bulletins and remain alert to updates over the coming days.
