Odisha Voter List Shake-Up: 9.8 Lakh Names Axed
Bhubaneswar: In a major electoral exercise, the Election Commission has removed over 9.8 lakh names from Odisha’s voter list, citing duplication, incorrect details, and ineligible entries.
The state currently has 3.34 crore registered voters across 45,255 polling booths, each accommodating around 1,200 electors.
To ensure transparency and accuracy, a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) will be conducted from May 30 to June 28, during which Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will carry out door-to-door verification.
The preparatory phase, including training and printing of materials, will take place between May 20 and 29.
Citizens will have the opportunity to raise claims and objections between July 5 and August 4, with the final revised voter list scheduled for publication on September 9.
Officials emphasised that the exercise aims to strengthen electoral integrity and ensure inclusive participation in upcoming elections.
