Odisha Woman’s Death in Hyderabad Aston Martin Crash Sparks Outrage

Hyderabad witnessed a tragic incident on August 16, 2026, when Bharati Mukhi (26), a sales executive from Baripada, Odisha, was fatally struck by a speeding Aston Martin near Inorbit Mall.

The driver, Lingamaneni Sanjush (21), son of Andhra Pradesh MP Lingamaneni Ramesh, was identified by police.

Authorities registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death by rash or negligent act.

The luxury car was seized, and preliminary drug and alcohol tests returned negative.

Blood samples have been sent for forensic analysis. Police clarified that immediate arrest was not made due to legal provisions under the Arnesh Kumar judgment and Section 35(1), but a notice was issued to the accused.

Back in Odisha, Bharati’s family is devastated. She was the sole breadwinner, supporting her widowed mother and siblings.

Her aunt has appealed to the Odisha government for financial assistance.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage in Odisha, with citizens demanding strict action and highlighting the risks faced by young professionals working outside the state.

The tragedy has reignited debates on road safety enforcement, accountability, and equal justice, with many questioning whether influential families receive undue leniency in such cases.
