OCS Exam Scandal: Candidate Nabbed with Hidden Mobile in Cuttack

Cuttack: A shocking case of malpractice surfaced during the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) preliminary examination in Cuttack, where candidate Avinash Rout was caught using a mobile phone concealed in his undergarments.

The device, connected to an earphone, allowed him to relay questions outside the exam hall and receive dictated answers.

Invigilators grew suspicious after noticing Rout repeatedly reading questions aloud.

Upon verification, the hidden phone was discovered, leading to his immediate detention.

Police later arrested three accomplices — Soumyaranjan Sahu, Alex, and Rupesh — who were assisting him from nearby locations.

Rout, employed as a supervisor with an outsourcing agency at SCB Medical College and Hospital, now faces serious charges.

The incident has sparked outrage among aspirants and raised concerns about the integrity of competitive examinations.

Authorities emphasised the need for stricter monitoring and vigilance to prevent such malpractice in the future.
