Odisha Floods Worsen: Jajpur, Bhadrak, Puri Hit Hard

Severe flooding has gripped Odisha as multiple embankment breaches and rising river levels continue to devastate districts across the state.

In Jajpur, seven breaches have been reported across three rivers, affecting nearly 250 villages and impacting over one lakh residents.

More than 10,000 people have been evacuated to safer locations.

In Bhadrak, the Salandi River surged to 18.50 ft, surpassing its danger mark of 17.00 ft, inundating several blocks including Bhadrak, Chandbali, Tihidi, and Dhamnagar.

Floodwaters from Kansabansa and Gamei rivers have submerged seven panchayats in Basudevpur block.

In Puri, the Devi and Bhargavi rivers are flowing above danger levels, with Bhargavi at Balanga reaching 11.25 ft against its danger mark of 10.42 ft, and Devi at Bauriakana rising to 5.08 ft against 4.95 ft.

Authorities are conducting evacuation and relief operations to minimise damage and safeguard lives as the situation remains critical.
