Odisha CM Pushes Land Identification for 2,200 Adarsh Schools by 2027
Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi has directed district administrations to identify land for 2,200 Godabarish Mishra Adarsh Primary Schools by March 2027, aiming to transform rural education across the state.
At a high‑level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan, the Chief Minister emphasised weekly monitoring by District Collectors and monthly reviews at the state level.
Over Rs 2,200 crore has been allocated in the current financial year, with foundation stones already laid for 322 schools.
The initiative, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020 and the Right to Education Act, 2009, seeks to deliver world‑class primary education at the panchayat level.
Local MLAs will be involved in land identification to accelerate progress.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner D.K. Singh, and School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond (virtually), attended the meeting, along with all District Collectors via video conferencing.
The project is expected to be a game‑changer for rural education, ensuring better infrastructure, teaching standards, and holistic development opportunities for children across Odisha.
