Odisha Flood Vigilance Update: SEOC Ensures Round‑the‑Clock Safety

The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) in Odisha is maintaining 24/7 surveillance on rainfall and flood conditions across the state.

The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Subarnapur, and Boudhagada, accompanied by thunderstorms and winds reaching 50 kmph.

Odisha recorded an average of 32.9 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, with Joda block in Keonjhar reporting the highest at 169.4 mm.

Seasonal rainfall is currently 32.1% above normal. Rivers Baitarani (Akhuapada) and Jalaka (Mathani) have crossed warning levels, raising concerns of localised flooding.

Flood‑affected blocks include Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Kalahandi, and Koraput, where relief camps have been opened for displaced families.

Rescue operations are underway with 67 teams deployed — 15 ODRAF, 8 NDRF, and 44 Fire & Emergency Services.

The state government has released Rs 170.30 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and supplied 1,562.81 metric tonnes of cattle feed to affected areas.

Authorities have issued warnings about waterlogging, landslides, crop damage, and unsafe structures. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until August 24.

SEOC continues to coordinate closely with District Emergency Operation Centres to safeguard lives and property, ensuring rapid response to evolving flood risks.
