Odisha Flood Update: Baitarani River Causes Maximum Damage
Heavy rainfall triggered by a low‑pressure system over the Bay of Bengal has led to rising water levels in several rivers across Odisha.
The Baitarani River has caused the most severe damage, leaving Bari and Binjharpur in Jajpur district and Aali in Kendrapara district heavily water‑logged.
Other rivers including Brahmani, Subarnarekha, and Salandi have also swelled.
While Brahmani is at warning level, Subarnarekha remains below danger level. Salandi continues to rise, adding to the flood threat.
Nine locations recorded more than 100 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours. Relief centres have been opened, with drinking water and medical facilities provided.
Authorities are maintaining 24‑hour surveillance on rivers and dams.
The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts over the coming days.
Residents in river valley regions have been advised to remain alert and follow official instructions.
