Odisha Farmers to Get Free Crop Insurance Under PMFBY Kharif 2026

The Odisha Cooperation Department has announced the rollout of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2026 season, offering free crop insurance coverage up to five acres.

Farmers will only pay Rs 1 per plot for account validation, while the State Government, with support from the Centre, will bear the entire premium.

The scheme covers major crops including paddy, maize, groundnut, ragi, cotton, red gram, ginger, and turmeric in notified areas.

All categories of farmers—loanee, non‑loanee, and sharecroppers—are eligible.

Risks such as drought, floods, cyclones, hailstorms, landslides, lightning, localised calamities, and post‑harvest losses are included.

Enrolment can be done through PACS/LAMPCS, banks, CSCs, insurance intermediaries, or approved digital platforms.

Farmers must provide Aadhaar details, land records, bank account information, and crop documents.

Officials will assist at the grassroots level to ensure smooth registration.

The last date for enrolment is 31 July 2026, and farmers are urged to complete the process before the deadline to secure financial protection against unpredictable weather.
