Odisha on Alert: IMD Warns of Lightning, Gusty Winds till July 13
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a five‑day forecast warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds across several districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warnings have been announced, urging residents to remain alert and take precautions.
According to IMD, the affected districts will vary each day:
- July 9: Sundargarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj (winds 30–40 kmph).
- July 10: Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Angul, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj.
- July 11: Sundargarh, Angul, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh.
- July 12–13: Sundargarh, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj.
Farmers, travellers, and outdoor workers have been advised to exercise caution as gusty winds may damage crops, weak structures, and unsecured objects.
The IMD has emphasised preparedness during the afternoon and evening hours when thunderstorms are most likely.
