Odisha CM Majhi Inaugurates Modern Talabania Police Station, ₹195 Cr Police Projects
Puri, Odisha: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the state‑of‑the‑art Talabania Police Station in Puri on Thursday, marking a significant step in strengthening Odisha’s law enforcement infrastructure.
The CM also dedicated police projects worth nearly Rs 195 crore, including new offices, battalion facilities, and 658 residential quarters for personnel across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Jajpur.
Majhi emphasised that a “fear‑free environment” is vital for development, urging police officers to remain approachable to citizens while acting firmly against criminals.
The Talabania station has modern features such as ramps for specially‑abled persons, barracks, conference halls, separate rooms for suspects and witnesses, wireless information centres, welcome lounges, women and child help desks, and 24×7 CCTV surveillance.
Highlighting welfare measures, the CM noted that housing for police personnel reduces domestic stress and improves efficiency.
Odisha’s conviction rate has risen to 87.6% following the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The event was attended by Puri MP Sambit Patra, local MLAs, DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, and senior officials.
Patra compared police stations to hospitals, stressing empathy and efficiency, while DGP Khurania praised the CM’s leadership in driving reforms.
