Odisha CM Acts Against Absent Doctors | 128 Face Disciplinary Action

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has initiated strict disciplinary action against 128 Medical Officers and Dental Surgeons who have remained absent from duty for more than five years.

Despite repeated public notices and reminders, many failed to respond or return to service.

In a decisive move, Dr Bichakhyana Panigrahy, absent since 2012 from Kandhamal Police Hospital, has been formally dismissed from government service after ignoring multiple show‑cause notices.

Majhi emphasised that while the state is investing heavily in new hospitals, modernising facilities, and opening medical colleges, absenteeism will not be tolerated.

He stressed that such negligence deprives patients of essential healthcare and undermines public trust in government institutions.

This action signals a broader push for accountability in Odisha’s healthcare system, ensuring that government‑appointed doctors fulfill their responsibilities to the people.
