Odisha Deploys 30 Senior Officers for Rath Yatra 2026
The Odisha government has deployed 30 senior administrative officers as Officers on Special Duty (OSDs) to oversee the smooth conduct of Rath Yatra 2026 in Puri.
Their assignment spans from June 20 to July 27, covering the entire festival period.
The officers, drawn from key departments including Health & Family Welfare, Housing & Urban Development, Tourism, Works, Energy, Panchayati Raj, and Commerce & Transport, will report directly to the Collector and District Magistrate of Puri.
Their responsibilities include crowd management, traffic regulation, medical services, sanitation, accommodation, and logistical coordination.
The deployment underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring safety and efficiency during the world‑famous Rath Yatra, which attracts millions of devotees to witness the grand procession of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra on their decorated chariots.
Officials emphasised that the move is aimed at strengthening on‑ground coordination and delivering a seamless experience for devotees and visitors alike.
