CRUT Powers Odisha’s Green Transport Future
Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has emerged as a game‑changer in Odisha’s public transport sector, expanding its fleet to 760 buses and introducing electric services across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Sambalpur, Berhampur, Keonjhar, and Naraj.
New depots at Gadakana, Naraj, and Puri have strengthened operational capacity.
With nearly 45% of fare collections now digital, CRUT has embraced technology through the Ama Bus platform, ticket vending machines, and WhatsApp‑based booking via ONDC.
A Command and Control Centre ensures real‑time monitoring and enhanced safety, particularly for women commuters.
Looking ahead, CRUT plans to add 400 more electric buses under PM eBus Sewa and introduce hydrogen fuel cell buses, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
The Odisha Yatri platform has also empowered over 16,000 drivers with commission‑free income opportunities.
Recognised nationally, CRUT was awarded “City with the Best Public Transport System” in 2024 and received a special mention in 2025 for commuter‑focused services.
Leaders including Transport Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Additional Chief Secretary Usha Padhee, and Managing Director Md.
Siddique Alam have emphasised safety, affordability, and eco‑friendly innovation as the cornerstones of CRUT’s vision.
