Low‑Pressure Over Bay of Bengal to Revive Odisha Monsoon by June 25

Bhubaneswar, June 18: Meteorologists have forecast the formation of the season’s first low‑pressure area over the north Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast around June 24–25.

This system is expected to activate the southwest monsoon, expand rainfall coverage, and accelerate its advance into central India and nearby islands.

Despite monsoon entry into over 20 districts, Odisha continues to reel under intense heat and humidity, with significant rainfall unlikely before June 21.

Residents must endure hot conditions until the system develops.

Experts say the anticipated rainfall will ease water scarcity and support agriculture, playing a crucial role in reviving monsoon activity that has remained weak since its onset.
