Nayagarh Cop Booked, Transferred After Woman’s Complaint

Nayagarh district witnessed a major development after a woman from Jamusahi village lodged a complaint against Inspector Sujit Kumar Das of Sarankul Police Station, alleging that he made unwelcome love proposals.

The complainant, whose family had been ostracised and forced to live outside the village in a single‑room arrangement, approached the Superintendent of Police with evidence of the inspector’s advances.

Acting on her complaint, police registered a case against Das under relevant legal provisions.

To ensure impartiality, the investigation has been handed over to the Crime Against Women and Children (CAW & CW) wing.

Meanwhile, the State Police Headquarters ordered Das’s immediate transfer to the district headquarters to prevent any influence over the probe.

The case underscores Odisha Police’s accountability measures and highlights the importance of safeguarding women against harassment within law enforcement ranks.
