Odisha Charts Ambitious Kharif Strategy for Sustainable Agriculture

Odisha has unveiled its Kharif strategy for 2025–26, projecting a robust 5.3% growth in the farm sector, well above the national average of 3.1%.

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo presented the plan at the National Conference in Delhi, highlighting the state’s commitment to farmer welfare, climate resilience, and digital modernisation.

The state recorded 150 lakh MT of food grains and 156 lakh MT of horticulture crops in 2024–25, supported by corpus funds of Rs 100 crore for certified seeds and Rs 240 crore for fertilisers.

Under the Samrudha Krushak Yojana, paddy procurement will continue at Rs 3,100 per quintal, above the MSP.

Digital initiatives such as Farmer Registry, Digital Crop Survey, and AgriStack integration are set to transform service delivery.

Odisha has also sought expanded central support for pulses, cotton, borewell subsidies, and fencing against the elephant menace.

Sustainability remains central, with the Balabhadra Jaibika Chasa Mission promoting natural farming across 16,600 hectares, the Amruta Anna Scheme cultivating aromatic rice for Jagannath Temple Mahaprasad, and a 10‑year plan to expand Koraput coffee over 1 lakh acres, empowering tribal women.

Senior officials, including Commissioner‑cum‑Secretary Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav and Director Shubham Saxena, joined the presentation, underscoring Odisha’s integrated vision under Purvodaya and Vikashit Odisha @ 2036.
