Odisha Government Transfers Fifth Subhadra Instalment on Raksha Bandhan

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Odisha government released the fifth instalment of the Subhadra Yojana, directly transferring funds to over 1.03 crore women beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi disbursed more than Rs 5,000 crore from Nayagarh, highlighting the scheme’s role in strengthening women’s economic independence and confidence.

Odisha has already achieved its target of creating 27 lakh “Lakshpati Didis” — women earning at least Rs 1 lakh annually — a year ahead of schedule.

Beneficiaries are investing in fish farming, cottage industries, handicrafts, and millet cultivation, with many aspiring to become “Maha Lakshpati Didis” earning Rs 10 lakh annually.

Self-help groups are being empowered with interest-free loans up to Rs 10 lakh, supported by an annual allocation of Rs 20,000 crore.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida emphasised that Subhadra is not just financial aid but a pathway to dignity and empowerment.

Newly enrolled women are also receiving a one-time support of Rs 25,000, spread across five instalments.

The Subhadra scheme continues to transform lives across Odisha, reinforcing the government’s vision of women-led development.
