Odisha Cabinet Meeting April 2026: CM Majhi to Chair 7 Key Agendas

Bhubaneswar, April 9: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will chair a crucial Cabinet meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan on April 10, 2026, where seven key agendas are expected to be discussed.

The meeting will focus on governance reforms and public welfare initiatives across multiple departments.

One of the major proposals is the Rural Drinking Water Policy 2026, introduced by the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, aimed at ensuring safe and consistent drinking water supply to every rural household.

Other departments, including Education, Healthcare, Transport, General Administration, Public Grievance, and Law, are also expected to present proposals to strengthen public services and improve administrative efficiency.

This meeting follows the Cabinet’s recent decision on April 4, 2026, to launch the Annapurna Scheme, which provides an additional 5 kg of free rice per person per month, benefitting nearly 3.28 crore people under food security programs.

Additionally, the Cabinet has approved reforms in higher education reservation policies.

Quotas have been raised for Scheduled Tribes (22.5%) and Scheduled Castes (16.2%), while a new quota of 11.2% has been introduced for SEBC/OBC students across government and private institutions, marking a significant step toward inclusivity in education.

The upcoming meeting is expected to set the tone for Odisha’s governance priorities in 2026, balancing welfare schemes with structural reforms.
