Odisha Cabinet Clears ₹3,000+ Crore Projects for Industry, Urban Development, Tourism, and Irrigation
The Odisha Cabinet has approved a series of landmark projects aimed at boosting industrial growth, urban livability, tourism infrastructure, and agricultural security.
Key highlights include a Rs 210.36 crore women’s hostel at Kalibeti Industrial Area, Khordha, designed to house 4,000 women workers from textile and apparel units.
The initiative is expected to enhance safety, productivity, and retention in Odisha’s emerging textile hub.
Urban development received a major push with a Rs 500 crore Waterfront Development Scheme to rejuvenate riverfronts and water bodies, alongside reduced stamp duty for EWS beneficiaries under PMAY-U 2.0.
Bhubaneswar will see a Rs 112.31 crore 24×7 water supply project and a Rs 100.89 crore wastewater treatment plant at the River Daya–Gangua Nallah confluence.
In the water resources sector, the Cabinet cleared a Rs 440.34 crore in-stream storage structure downstream of Ayodhya Sagar weir in Sambalpur and a Rs 194.07 crore spillway for the Brutang Irrigation Project in Nayagarh, which will benefit 23,300 hectares across 309 villages.
Tourism infrastructure will be transformed through a Rs 1,500 crore “Land Bank for Hospitality Infrastructure” scheme, covering 5,500 acres across Chilika, Konark, Puri, Satkosia, Similipal, Bhitarkanika, Daringbadi, and the Buddhist Circuit.
The scheme aims to cut project delays, attract private investment, and generate employment in rural and semi‑urban areas.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a waiver of Rs 13.07 lakh in land revenue for the NDRF approach road at Mundali complex, Cuttack, strengthening disaster response readiness.
Together, these initiatives reflect Odisha’s strategy to balance industrial expansion, urban modernisation, agricultural resilience, tourism‑driven growth, and disaster preparedness.
