Odisha Govt Cracks Down on Illegal LPG Storage, Seizes 8,457 Cylinders

In a sweeping statewide operation on September 8, 2026, Odisha’s Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department seized 8,457 LPG cylinders from multiple villages.

The raids targeted black marketing and unauthorised storage of domestic gas cylinders.

Authorities registered 47 FIRs under the Essential Commodities Act and arrested nine individuals linked to the illegal trade.

Officials stressed that strict enforcement will continue to prevent hoarding and ensure fair distribution of LPG to genuine consumers.

The crackdown highlights the government’s commitment to curbing black marketing of essential commodities and safeguarding public welfare.
